First things First
Let’s Define our Problem and set our Goal
The Problem: Charitable Organizations and their supporters need a platform that allows them to interact and spread awareness of their cause in a seamless manner.
The Goal: Build a platform that can be used to raise awareness for charitable causes and connect organizations to their supporters, while providing exceptional user experience.
Next Up: User research

Addressing user Pain Points
Let’s see how we Solved our User’s Problems
Share Your Cause with the world in just a few clicks
The platform was designed to help organizations increase awareness and gain exposure. It includes a feature that lets them create and share posts to seek donations and attract volunteers who want to support their cause.
Find and Support The Causes You Trust.
To help donors, organizations can submit proof of their identity to The Reach app to get verified. This makes it easier for donors to find and trust them.
The platform helps users easily find and apply for volunteer opportunities in one place. Users can engage with an organization's post and receive a confirmation notification. A leader from the organization will provide more details afterward.
Volunteering Has Never Been Easier.
Time to Empathize
Taking a look at our users
Two user personas were developed from the design brief to help us understand their needs and challenges. These personas represent our target audience and informed our design process, ensuring our solutions met their unique characteristics and experiences.
Moving on to Ideation
Navigating through the Reach App
I created a flow to illustrate user navigation of the platform's main task feature. This chart enhances user experience by highlighting interactions for efficient task completion. By outlining the user journey, I aimed to identify issues and ensure smooth transitions, informing design and function for usability and customer satisfaction.
Testing Early Concepts
Testing Early Concepts
After making the Low Fidelity Prototype, I tested the app to observe user interaction and gather feedback for improvements. I conducted two sessions of moderated usability studies with 9 participants in total. The first session had 5 participants testing the main user flow. The second session included 4 new participants testing the Volunteer/Donor user flow. I recorded the data from each study in my usability notes Excel sheet.
Usability Study Results
Improvements made by User Insight
1. Organizations would prefer the document verification section to be optional
2. Organizations need to set goals for the volunteer and donation posts.
3. Donors would need additional methods of payments
4. Volunteers need more confirmation when volunteering.
Take Aways
This project significantly helped me to gain a better understanding of the app's main purpose and effectively laid the groundwork for my overall design approach. I learned that when designing for various screen sizes, we need to carefully consider what elements and information to display in order to enhance the user experience.
Next Steps
1
Obtain UX/UI feedback from designers with more experience in the field to improve design.
2
When I have documented all feedback that was provided, I will make the necessary design updates in order to improve the app’s overall experience.
3
Create a cross-platform responsive design. The goal is to build the same experience for all users, no matter what type of device they are using.
